Antfarm Quartet

It’s obvious when listening to the Antfarm Quartet that this musical foursome is made up of friends with deep respect for each other’s talent and for the music they perform. They blend, communicate and create soulful conversations through their music. Critics have raved using such superlatives as “ultra-hip” …. “dynamic” …. “masterful” … “daringly inventive” and ….  “remarkable.”

Performing for the past several years throughout the New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware area, the highly respected musicians who make up Antfarm Quartet are Jim Ridl (piano), Paul Jost (vocals and harmonica), Tim Lekan (acoustic bass) and Bob Shomo (drums).  They have performed with some of the top jazz artists in the country. Their two CD’s “Antfarm Quartet Live” and “Dialogues pt.2″, and are on Dreambox Media, (www.dreamboxmedia.com), the award winning Philadelphia recording label.  Their CD’s showcase unique interpretations of classic and not-so-familiar jazz standards. There are also original compositions.  In All About Jazz, John Barron describes their collaborative performance this way, “High-level musicianship aside, the real charm of The Antfarm Quartet lies in their communal sensibilities and they sound like a real band. ‘Dialogues, pt. 2’ is full of give-and-take, humility and warmth.”
